Nick: The offer sheet drama is over. The Mammoth matched, and he's signed for one year at $4.775 million. He's a restricted free agent, so he can't be traded for a year. He's a valuable center, and they're not going to let him walk.
Vanessa: But with Trocheck coming in, is Hayton a third-line center now?
Nick: It's a nice problem to have. You've got Cooley, Trocheck, Hayton, and Schmaltz down the middle. That's four legit centers. Hayton might slide to the third line, but he'll get power play time and matchups. He's still a big part of the future.

Nick: He's got potential, but he might need more development. The Mammoth are in win-now mode, so they might not have room for a rookie who isn't ready. But he'll get a long look in camp.

Nick: If everyone's healthy, someone's getting traded or sent down. I think DeSimone and Goldsmith are the ones battling for the seventh spot. It's a good problem to have.
