Doug: Lucas Erceg is the likely closer. He’s been reliable when healthy. Then you’ve got Alex Lange, Steven Cruz, Jose Cuas, Spencer Bivens, Nolan Hoffman, Anthony Gose, Nate Pearson, and Daniel Lynch IV. It’s a revolving door. Carly: So if Lugo gets pulled early, you are handing the game over to guys like Spencer Bivens or Anthony Gose. That feels risky. Do you think the White Sox will exploit that weakness immediately?
Doug: They will try. But the White Sox are also struggling. They are not a team that hits for power consistently. If Lugo keeps the ball in the park, the Royals might survive even with a shaky bullpen. It’s all about innings efficiency.

Carly: Perez is the heart of this lineup. But remember, in our preview yesterday, we discussed his offensive struggles. Can he handle the White Sox pitching staff tonight?
Doug: He has to. Perez is the most consistent hitter on this team. Even when he’s off, he provides value with his defense and leadership. But if he’s swinging at pitches outside the zone, that’s a problem. Plate discipline is everything right now.
Carly: What about Nick Loftin? He had a four-hit game against the Pirates. Is he riding a hot streak?
