Kevin: True. The Marlins are 74-77, third in the NL East, so they aren’t exactly juggernauts. But they beat us 4-2 yesterday. They found ways to exploit the gaps. If the D-backs’ starter doesn’t go deep into the game, the bullpen fatigue will set in quickly.
Nicole: So the strategy has to be: eat innings early. Get the first six outs to the bridge. Who do you trust to take the ball tonight?
Kevin: I’d love to see Zac Gallen go. He’s been consistent. Or maybe Corbin Burnes if they want to shut the door early. But honestly, with the injuries, I wouldn’t be surprised if they go with a lighter touch, saving the heavy hitters for Game 3.

Kevin: I’m going with a tighter game. I think the D-backs grind out a 3-2 win. Maybe it’s a bullpen hold, maybe it’s a solo shot by Carroll. But they take Game 2.
Nicole: I like that. I’m predicting a sweep of the series. Four games, four wins. The momentum shifts back to Arizona, and they close out Miami.
Kevin: A sweep is ambitious, Nicole. But if the rotation holds up, it’s possible. I’ll stick with my 3-2 prediction for tonight, but I’ll concede the series could swing either way.
